Does Acupuncture Really Work?
I have suffered migraines for almost 30 years. I have also tried almost every possible cure short of surgery, including medications with their various side effects, massage therapy, Botox injections, exercise, diet, chiropractic, and numerous over-the-counter products. I recently saw an article about Dr. Nawei and acupuncture in Women¡¯s Edition magazine. I was skeptical so put the article aside for a few days. Then I thought about my situation: nothing else was working. As a retired teacher I should be having fewer headaches or none at all----after all, retirement is supposed to be stress-free! But the headaches continued, sometimes daily for a week. So, I read the article again and called Dr. Nawei for an appointment. What did I have to lose? After explaining my situation to her, she began my first treatment. She recommended 2 treatments per week, saying it may take awhile since I¡¯d had migraines for so long. I found the treatments to be very relaxing and not painful even though needles were inserted into my face, forehead, scalp, arms, legs, hands and feet. It was a very warming sensation¡ªlike the needles were directing the pain out of my body. I have now completed about 12 treatments over about 2 months. I have weaned myself off of all medications and have had only one migraine since starting treatment. The only negative aspect of acupuncture is the cost because ¡°alternative medicine¡± is not usually covered by insurance. But for me the cost is worth it---no meds, no negative side effects, no pain! Could it be worth it to you? Learn all you can about acupuncture and then try it for yourself! You too may no longer be a skeptic!
A pleased acupuncture patient,
